Why is the Web site not loading?

There are two common reasons as to why the WebReboot Web page will not load. Typically, where the applet should be, you will see a grey screen. If that is the the case, please try these fixes.

1. Make sure you are running a Sun JVM of version 1.4 or higher. On some versions of Windows, Microsoft installed its own version of the JVM. Microsoft's JVM will not work with the WebReboot.

2. Your applet cache may have become corrupted. The Sun JVM will store a local copy of all downloaded applets and use those copies each time you access the WebReboot. If you have more than one WebReboot, especially ones with different versions, you will likely have problems because the applets are not necessarily compatible with one another. Even if you are only using a single WebReboot, sometimes the local copy becomes corrupted and will be problematic when connecting to the WebReboot.

We recommend disabling the applet cache altogether. If this is not possible or desirable for your system, you should at least remove the cached copies in order to rectify your problem. You may do so by navigating on the start menu:

Start -> Control Panel -> Java

This will open up the Java Control Panel. On the "General" tab of the Java Control Panel you will find a section titled "Temporary Internet Files". Click the "Settings..." button in that section. In the window that pops up, click the "Delete Files..." button to remove any cached applets.

The process for disabling caching depends on the version of Java you have. If you see a "View Applets..." button, click it. In the new window that pops up, make sure the "Enable Caching" checkbox is not checked. If you do not have a "View Applets..." button, you should have a "Keep temporary files on my computer." checkbox -- make sure this checkbox is not checked.
